Jim DeWolfe, P.E., CWO
Sr. Operations Analyst
Malcolm Pirnie

Mr. DeWolfe is a senior project engineer in Malcolm Pirnie’s State College, PA office. Mr. DeWolfe has over 18 years experience in the drinking water industry, working in both private industry and consulting. As a senior member of the Malcolm Pirnie Drinking Water Process and Planning Team, he works nationally to provide expertise in evaluating drinking water operations and guiding utilities to optimize treatment plant performance. He has supervised and conducted optimization studies and operations assessments at more than 100 water treatment plants nationwide. Mr. DeWolfe is a registered professional engineer and certified water works operator. This uniquely qualifies him to provide services for guiding and integrating water treatment facility design, management and operations. He also is the principal investigator and author of the AwwaRF report, Guidance Manual for Coagulant Changeover.
Laurie Sullivan, P.E.

Ms. Sullivan has extensive experience in drinking water process optimization training. She has been integral in operator training activities at large and small utilities throughout the United States and has developed curriculum for several training courses. Ms. Sullivan, along with Nick Pizzi, developed the training course and materials for a filter inspection seminar presented at the City of Golden, Colorado in 2003. The seminar structure was a combination of classroom and hands on “labs”.
Andrea Traviglia, P.E.

Ms. Traviglia is a project engineer with Malcolm Pirnie. She has over seven years experience in drinking water industry, and has worked on a variety of drinking water process optimization and regulatory compliance efforts with municipalities in several states, as well as internationally. In addition, Ms. Traviglia has assisted and helped lead training for operations staff at a variety of locations, including Technical, Managerial, and Financial (TMF) capacity training for small systems in the state of Colorado.
Jason Kerstiens, P.E.
Project Manager and Optimization Specialist

Mr. Kerstiens is the Project Manager for Malcolm Pirnie and has managed the development of all Advanced Operator Training curricula. Mr. Kerstiens has 9 years of experience helping water utilities across the county optimize the performance of treatment and distribution facilities. In Colorado, Mr. Kerstiens has helped over 140 drinking water systems build technical, managerial, and financial (TMF) capacity by designing and leading the facilitation of 12 day-long workshops and managing over 40 one-on-one, customized training sessions. He is also a member of the Rocky Mountain Section AWWA Water Treatment Committee and routinely presents at local and national conferences.
